In early February, we attended Ambiente—one of the most prestigious trade shows for consumer goods and design at Frankfurt’s Messe—where we were immediately captivated by the minimalistic yet inviting charm of Cork Units’ designs, all proudly originating from Portugal.
During our visit, we had the pleasure of connecting with Joana and Mariana, whose passion for quality and craftsmanship shone through in every conversation. Their dedication to creating solid cork masterpieces—far removed from the common composite cork seen elsewhere—ensures that each piece is both durable and beautifully refined.
What truly sets Cork Units apart is their unwavering commitment to sustainability. With an eco-friendly manufacturing process backed by their own cork oak forest, they ensure that every product is as environmentally responsible as it is aesthetically striking.
Several standout pieces caught our eye at the show. The Side Tables, designed in-house by Mariana Alves, featured tasteful color accents and clever hidden storage. The Uhin Bottle Rack - in 2 and 3-slot versions - a collaboration with Spain’s Manex Bilbao Studio, brought an innovative twist to cork design. We were also impressed by the Corkboard Shelves, featuring softly rounded edges and available in three versatile lengths.
