The low 7.9 in Bent Vase in matte black porcelain comes from the iconic Crumpled series, known for its bold design that evokes crumpled metal or wrinkled paper. Its intentionally irregular form is a technologically demanding project, contrasting the fragile nature of porcelain with dynamic sculptural tension. The series includes vases and cups in two sizes: large, ideal for tea or latte, and mini, perfect for aromatic espresso. All pieces invite creative use and reinterpretation—they can be repurposed as small vases or vessels for sauces and spices. Designed by Marek Cecuła, acclaimed ceramic artist and educator, whose award-winning works are held in the collections of the Royal Mariemont Museum in Belgium, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, and the Museum of Arts and Design in New York. Born in Kielce in 1944, Cecuła moved to Israel in 1960, and in the 1970s settled in New York, where he founded the Modus Design studio. Since 2000, it has also operated in Poland. In 2013, he co-founded Ćmielów Design Studio, the design division of Polish Porcelain Factories, committed to bringing contemporary Polish design to the global market. The studio combines human craftsmanship with innovative technology, with the designer playing a central role in industrial product creation. It undertakes numerous projects in education, art, and business and works with schools and designers worldwide through its Residency Program. The studio nurtures emerging talent and promotes Polish design on the international stage. The Crumpled collection has existed for several years, recently expanded with a small crumpled teapot featuring a metal handle and four matching cups. The pure white porcelain of this series contrasts beautifully with the chrome handle, creating a refined, functional composition.
