The Crinkled series maintains a minimalist aesthetic using classic white porcelain. Its surprising, unconventional form resembles crumpled sheet metal or wrinkled paper. This bold and technically demanding design contrasts a “crumpled” shape with the delicacy of porcelain. The series includes vases and mugs in two sizes – a larger version perfect for tea or latte, and a smaller one ideal for espresso. The collection’s designer, Marek Cecuła – ceramicist, educator, and award-winning artist – has works in prestigious institutions like the Royal Museum of Mariemont in Belgium, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Smithsonian in Washington, and the Museum of Arts and Design in New York. Born in Kielce in 1944, he emigrated to Israel in 1960, then settled in New York in the 1970s, where he founded Modus Design. Since 2000, the studio has also operated in Poland. In 2013, Ćmielów Design Studio was founded under his direction as the design branch of Poland’s Porcelain Factories. The studio blends craftsmanship with innovation, emphasizing the designer’s role in industrial product creation. It fosters collaborations with schools and international designers via its artist-in-residence program and contributes to education, art, and business projects. Today, we expand the Crinkled collection with a new teapot featuring a metal handle and four small cups. The pure white porcelain evokes crumpled paper, contrasting with the chrome handle and making the set both delicate and functional. It’s also available in matte porcelain with a glazed interior, in pink, indigo, and navy.
