The ZZ oil and vinegar set (CD05) includes salt and pepper shakers along with irregularly shaped porcelain containers for oil and vinegar — all seasoned with a pinch of knowledge about the origins of the most common kitchen spices. The designer, a ceramicist and educator, has received numerous prestigious awards, and his works are included in the collections of the Royal Museum of Mariemont in Belgium, Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, and the Museum of Arts and Design in New York. Born in Kielce in 1944, he moved to Israel in 1960 and later settled in New York in the 1970s, where he founded the Modus Design ceramic studio, which has also operated in Poland since 2000. In 2013, he co-founded Ćmielów Design Studio — a design atelier of the Polish Porcelain Factories — focused on bringing contemporary Polish design to the global market. By experimenting with porcelain production, the studio blends the human touch with innovative methods and technology. Ćmielów Design Studio emphasizes the designer’s key role in industrial product development and actively engages in educational, artistic, and commercial initiatives, partnering with schools and designers worldwide through its Residency Program. The studio fosters young talent and promotes Polish design on the international stage.
