The Crumpled series is characterized by a minimalist palette of classic white porcelain. Its irregular shape resembles crumpled sheet metal or wrinkled paper. This is a surprising and technologically demanding design, where the “crumpled” shape contrasts with the delicacy of porcelain. The series includes vases and cups in two sizes: large — perfect for your favorite tea or latte — and mini — just right for aromatic espresso. All pieces in the Crumpled series allow for small experiments. They can easily be repurposed as small vases or vessels for sauces or condiments. The designer, ceramist, and educator has received numerous prestigious awards. His works can be found in collections such as the Royal Museum of Mariemont in Belgium, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, and the Museum of Arts and Design in New York. He was born in Kielce in 1944, moved to Israel in 1960, and settled in New York in the 1970s, where he founded the Modus Design ceramic studio, which has operated in Poland since 2000. In 2013, with his involvement, Ćmielów Design Studio was established — the design studio of Polish Porcelain Factories — developing contemporary Polish design for the global market. By experimenting with porcelain production, the Studio combines the human touch with innovative methods and technology. The designer’s role is central in the creation of industrial products. The Studio undertakes numerous projects in education, art, and business, and collaborates with schools and designers worldwide through its Residency program. It brings together young creators, giving them opportunities to participate in prestigious projects, while promoting Polish design internationally. The collection of crumpled vases and cups has existed for several years. Today, a new product joins this popular series — a small crumpled teapot with a metal handle and four small cups. The perfectly white porcelain resembles crumpled paper and contrasts beautifully with the chrome handle, making the set both delicate and functional. The unique form encourages tea-drinking rituals. The set is also available in matte porcelain, glazed inside, in colors such as pink, indigo, and navy blue.Ćmielów Design StudioĆmielów Design Studio is the professional design studio of the Polish Porcelain Factories “Ćmielów” and “Chodzież” S.A., established in 2013 and led by renowned ceramic artist and designer Marek Cecuła.
