In the heart of Wrocław, there is a space where creativity, craftsmanship, and community come together. Zakwas is more than just a ceramic studio; it is a coworking hub, a learning center, and a place where ideas take shape—literally.
What is Zakwas?
The name Zakwas comes from the Polish word for sourdough starter—a living, organic mixture that sparks transformation. Much like its culinary counterpart, this creative space fosters growth. The founders, Mateusz Peringer and Dominika Kulczyńska describe it as "an organic mixture, a creative ferment that gives rise to ideas and then brings them to life."
They not only design and produce their own ceramics, collaborate with artists working in different materials, offer ceramic coworking space and firing capabilities, but also host workshops for aspiring ceramicists.

Modern, yet warm
Their instantly recognizable design language takes the best from ceramic warmth and earthy feeling and marries it with modern color choices and minimalist shapes. If you are after a coherent look for your table, check the flagship series “TAP” with thought out and restrained silhouettes.
For perfect brewing
Zakwas loves coffee and it shows in their product range. Figa is a cup designed in cooperation with the 2016 World Aeropress Champion - Filip Kucharczyk (try his winning recipe HERE) to keep your specialty brew warm and aromatic for as long as possible. For espresso lovers we recommend ultra-minimalistic “PopUp” cups sold separately or with matching saucers. If you want to share, this coffee set with a jug will be the perfect choice.
Not only function, not only ceramics
If you like Zakwas’ style, but are looking for something purely decorative, have a look at the flower vase “WEST” with its distinct, plush look. While the shapes remain close to the overarching themes of other designs, the subtle color gradient and matte finish with crackles make it stand out in the offer. The other purely decorative pieces you may consider are equally sophisticated glass vases designed by Ganna Grudnytska and blown in a glasswork in the neighbouring Czech Republic.
