This surprising and technologically challenging design contrasts the “crumpled” form with the delicacy of porcelain. The designer, ceramic artist and educator, is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards. His works are part of collections in the Royal Museum of Mariemont in Belgium, Victoria & Albert Museum in London, Smithsonian Institution in Washington, and the Museum of Arts and Design in New York. Born in Kielce in 1944, he moved to Israel in 1960, and in the 1970s settled in New York, where he founded the Modus Design ceramic studio, active in Poland since 2000. In 2013, Ćmielów Design Studio was established with his participation — a design workshop of the Polish Porcelain Factories focused on developing and introducing contemporary Polish design to the global market. By experimenting with porcelain production, the studio combines human touch with innovative technologies. The studio also undertakes projects in education, art, and business, collaborating with schools and designers worldwide under a Residency program. It brings together young creatives, giving them the opportunity to participate in renowned projects while promoting Polish design on the international stage.
