The designer is a ceramicist and educator, recipient of numerous prestigious awards. His works can be found in collections such as the Royal Museum of Mariemont in Belgium, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, and the Museum of Arts and Design in New York. Born in Kielce in 1944, he moved to Israel in 1960, and in the 1970s settled in New York, where he founded the ceramic studio Modus Design, which has also been operating in Poland since 2000. In 2013, with his involvement, Ćmielów Design Studio was established—a design studio of Polish Porcelain Factories focused on development and bringing contemporary Polish design to the global market. Experimenting with the porcelain production process, the studio combines human touch with innovative methods and technology. The designer plays a key role in the creation of industrial products. The studio undertakes numerous projects in the fields of education, art, and business, and collaborates with schools and designers from around the world through its residency program. It brings together young creators, giving them the opportunity to participate in prestigious projects while promoting Polish design internationally.
